Seminar on Labor Markets in Poor Countries: Interventions in Support of Decent Work in the Formal and Informal Sectors (15 November 2022)

A seminar was organized in Kathmandu by the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and the Social Science Baha on November 15, 2022, on the theme of labour markets in poor countries. It featured a presentation by Magnus Hatlebakk, Senior Researcher at CMI and Deepak Thapa, Director of Social Science Baha. The presentation focused on the creation of jobs, the efficiency of labour market and worker competence. It was followed by a presentation on the status of skill training in Nepal and publications regarding it. The participants included representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), International Labour Organization (ILO), Department of Population Studies, Tribhuvan University (TU), Labour Studies Programme, Tribhuvan University (TU), Center for Social Change, Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) and Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC).
